Once again, these questions have been more difficult to answer than I expected. I found a few answers at the Rutherford County Library a couple of weeks ago. I then went to Gardner Webb last week and spent a few hours finding most of the rest of the answers there. There are still a few of the biographical questions that I haven't been able to answer, including the Tom Brokaw quote and the Henry VIII question, as well as a couple that have not been answered completely (age difference between Warren Harding and his mistress and religious group of Nathan Bedford Forrest).
I have also been working on my pathfinder. My topic is Rutherford County. I hope that this pathfinder will be useful to library patrons in the future.

Time Flies When You're Having Fun
Whoa! Two more weeks have passed since the last class. I've enjoyed these questions on Dictionaries, Ready References, and Encyclopedias. I started out searching in my library (Rutherford County Library) and was able to find 6 of the Dictionary questions and 1 of the Encyclopedia questions. I then went to Isothermal and found a few more of the Encyclopedia questions. Some of us went to Gardner Webb and finished the rest of the questions. However, even with several of us looking, we were not able to find the answers to the last 2 questions on the Encyclopedias Search & Discuss guide. A few of the others were difficult to find also, such as the fairy question. I must have heard about that before, because the thought "bruises" suddenly popped in my mind. I looked it up in alphabetical order and sure enough, that was the answer to "How do you know you've been pinched by a fairy"? This is a fun assignment for me. It feels like a treasure hunt.

Feelings of Relief
I feel relieved that my group's presentation and Search & Discuss guide is over. I'm also relieved that the Government Documents & Bibliographic Resources Search & Discuss guide is over! I've printed out both the Dictionaries/Ready Reference and the Encyclopedias Search & Discuss questions, and I can't wait to get to the library to start looking for the answers!

Government & Bibliographic Resources
Whoa. I thought indexes were overwhelming, but so are these government and bibliographic resources. I think I've done about as much as I can online with answering the questions. Tuesday I'm going to Gardner-Webb to do some more research there. This is certainly a learning experience!

Index Project
I feel so much better about our project after chatting with Renee and Dr. Matzen tonight. These indexes are so overwhelming and confusing. Some of them are indexes only, but most of them now contain full text of articles. That makes it difficult to know what type of questions to create for our "Search and Discuss" guide. After asking Dr. Matzen about a couple of the questions we have created, I feel more confident in what we are doing. I'm actually looking forward to learning about all of the other resources from the other groups.
